Eighth District Voting

The Eighth Congressional District spans Lake, Cook and McHenry counties.  Voting in the Eighth is administered by the county clerks of these three counties.  Registration, poll locations and times available (in the case of early voting) are determined by the county clerks of the three counties.  Each county has complete voting information at their websites:

McHenry County

You may vote either by mail, or prior to the election at designated sites, or on election day at your polling place. Early Voting will be offered January 11 - January 28 at most townships and a few municipal offices. You may also cast an absentee ballot in person at many of these locations from December 24 to February 1.

The Primary Election is on February 2, 2010.  Polls will be open from 6am to 7pm.

We need election judges in the Eighth Congressional District!

If we want elections to be conducted fairly, there must be enough Democratic judges to balance the Republican ones. I hope you agree that we don't want people to be teased (yes it happens!) for taking a Democratic ballot. And we don't want our candidates falsely accused of electioneering or other abuses.

Election judges are paid for their work, about $10 per hour. They work on election days and can work during the weeks of early voting.

You may be asked to work your own precinct or another one where Democratic judges are needed. You are encouraged to say yes to these requests but you are not required to.

Election days can be long, but the work is easy, especially if you are a detail-oriented person. Training is given before each election and the Clerk's office (and Democratic officials) are available by phone if you have questions or concerns.

You need to be a registered voter, or be a high school junior/senior in good standing, or a student enrolled in a public, community college or private secondary school.

We are currently in the process of naming election judges for the next election.

Please respond to if you would like to be a judge or know someone who should be contacted. Thank you!
(Your Democratic candidates will thank you, too, come November!)

I want to be an election judge!
